Havering is one of the largest London Boroughs.

The lure of the city has for many years meant that Havering has had low staying rates. The change in the economic climate has seen an increase in students continuing in education.
Link FM works closely with the primary, secondary, special schools, The Sixth Form College and Havering College of Further and Higher Education.
Primary Schools provide Link FM's weather broadcasts during term time and schools are encouraged to use community radio as part of the curriculum, for reading, literacy, numeracy and science. Many primary group visits are arranged throughout the year.
Older students have an array of activities available
All Havering secondary schools are involved in Link FM's work experience programme, and there are three main programmes available, two week block placements, mainly for 14-16 year olds, one day per week placements for longer periods and specialist placements for college and university students.
Further activities are also planned in negotiation with schools and colleges. These involve business challenge days, news preperation, production and presentation skills.
"Young Voices" is an important way for Link FM to keep abreast of young peoples issues. "Young Voices" is a youth led group that advises on programme content and helps devise and present youth programming.
To enable students to get the best from their placement with Link FM, teachers and lecturers are offered various professional development opportunities to support their students.
Havering is unique in having it's own community radio station and placements support teachers and lecturers in keeping abreast of new developments and provides an ideal local resource for developing skills and expertise in a sought after media enviroment.
